A coconut to the nuts, at HIGH-SPEED, OUCH that's just NASTY ><.
Another fine addition, it definitely sets that stage for harry to make a come-back, it'll be interesting to see if you introduce any interesting characters as the leaders of the Cult of Voldemort?
As for those wanting to cut the journal entries, I agree with you, keep them it builds on the characters, allows a person a visualize and empathize with the characters better.

Update soon.
Sorry couldn't resist. You opened yourself up to that.
You are starting to discuss Harry's future in your story and that brings up something I have a hard time justifying what JKR did (one of the many actually). Why would a young man so frustrated with the war and having an evil wizard after him for so many years want to continue fighting after said wizard was killed (by a second year curse no less)? I think JKR made a serious hypocrite of Harry saying he went on to become an auror. "No, I'm not an attention seeking berk but I play one after the seventh book from JKR."
I like your idea of Harry and Hermione doing something together. Seeing how well Hermione's parents get along and how they work together. Maybe they could become Lama farmers and work with Technicolor penguins selling Monty Python episodes to house elf's? Or how about opening a franchise of donut coffee houses? Just a thought. Thanks for the update.
Happy Holidays!

I have to say I am enjoying the story immensely. I found a few typos that I don't know if you want pointed out or not, but not a huge deal.
And as a "lurking" reader I invite you to try and find me. Even if you manage to find my lair, you will become drunk upon entering my domain. Hard to cook food when your smashed :)

LOL! Maybe I should read the AN more often. Before I fasten my seat belt would you mind explaining why it has what looks like a padlock on it?
I'm glad you're not going to stop the journal entries although I do wish you'd actually shown some of the stuff you just told about (such as Harry's Transfiguration N.E.W.T test and events related).
I agree with you about following a potion recipe not being that difficult however I think a good analogy for the Wolfsbane potion would be preparing from recipe a confectioner's three layer wedding cake using substances as stable and harmless as nitroglycerin or hydrofluoric acid. I'm not saying it can't be done but you better be very clear about all the needed safety precautions which will be assumed in the recipe before you start and expect it to take you a dozen tries to get it right. As for Snape I think that speech illustrates IMO a great portion of his problem. He's equivalent to a chef who prides himself on being able to prepare fancy meals (without a recipe book naturally, never touch the things) being stuck teaching a high school Home Ec. class. The rest of his problem is that he is a bigoted, racist, self centered, obssesed, arrogant, (did I mention bigot?) with pure hygiene.
Some nits in the story:
Broken bones- in CoS Harry has to spend the night regrowing all the bones in his arm so that would IMO place an upper limit on how long merely healing damage from broken bones would take. Additionally it's mentioned that if the bones hadn't been vanished a simple fracture could have been dealt with in a few moments (the impression I got was that a single cast spell would instantly heal the break) While you could argue anything more then a simple fracture would take longer I still think you're having broken bones be considered much too serious an injury in this story.
Lavender- No, I'm not objecting to her being a bully but given that she was as much of a bully as you described I doubt that single incident with Hermionie would have been enough for her to back down, although now that I've written down my objection it occurs to me that once Hermionie started fighting back she might not consider further incidents worth reporting.
Mastery - It seems to me that having a mastery granted automatically with an O grade in the N.E.W.T test makes it a nearly worthless achievement which does not fit how it was treated elsewhere. I'd think rather then being granted automatically I'd think maybe that would be enough to waive the admission test to whatever program teaches it.
Oh and if you don't want those donuts you can always send some of them to me, I'll make sure they don't get back to you to cause problems :)

**Dobby gone bad **
I'm not sure that my imagination will stretch that far. I might break something. The articles in Quibbler were pretty mind-bending, as well.
I love watching Harry kick ass. The Pacific Rim emphasis on practical over theoretical exams has never been more clearly highlighted.
This is the first time I've felt sorry for Lavender. But let's face it - she's a poionous little bitch. Her father's a jerk, but that doesn't excuse her attempts to publicly humiliate someone who never hurt her.
Thank you.

Thank you for updating just in time for the Yule, happy Solstice everyone!
Warning, do not drink hot or carbonated beverages (or hot carbonated beverages) while reading the Quibbler articles in this story. Burning sinues may ensue. . .
I especially like it that the kids are taking their time and not rushing into intimacy - it really does make it that much more satisfying when they do finally go for it.
True love waits, and masturbates. . .
N!

Quite a bit of fun. Developing characters is so odd when most just up and throw people together and let you fill in the details on your own. Looking forward to more.

Yay, I was mentioned in the Author Notes. Even if it meant getting barbecued it was totally worth it Some would say I'm starved for acknowledgment but I say it's just that I am to lazy to work on my own WiP so I might as well try to write interesting reviews.
You can't do that, I don't care if you are the authors, you cannot make me hate Lavender and then in the same chapter make me pity her. It's rude to play with your reader's emotions like that.
I was wondering about the bookspace. If they go in wearing what they were wearing outside but they can't get underneath those clothes what would happen if they were naked when they went in? Also why eighteen? Legal age in the wizarding world is seventeen, age of consent in the UK is sixteen and in many countries younger.

Fine chapter, thanks.
Your Apparition physics is off, though.
You need to account for the earth's curvature when apparating more than about 75 miles. Not just for elevation reasons. This is also because every nonpolar point on Earth is ACCELERATING (not moving) at a different rate relative to every other nonpolar point.
Given the scenario you cite, Harry would arrive, IN SPACE, over Fiji and with a relative velocity of many hundreds of miles per hour.
The vacuum would render him unconscious in seconds and dead in a minute or two. (It would hurt like hell and probably incapacitate him, instantaneously.) If, however, he immediately jumped close to the surface, the hypersonic blast of air would break his bones, slam his heart off his aorta and possibly even peel off his skin.
If he was too close to the ground, he would plow into it at hypersonic speeds.
As you can see, reality is more fun than fiction! (And more deadly, your apparition license is revoked. ;-) )
This chapter was good, overall. The sappy stuff was not tedious and Harry's tests were great.
Bobmin356 replied:
Your applying physics to a story about Magic? That's why it's call FICTION.
If you want facts, read an online text book, or visit wikipedia. :)

Another fine chapter and done in 21 days too!
There's is one thing I'm wondering about though. What's Cindy reacting going to be when she realizes Dobby isn't going to be able to clean all those muggle rooms?
Bobmin356 replied:
She's a muggle, why would it bother her? And more so, why would something so trivial be of any concern to anyone?

Lmao, I must say, I can't decide which is funnier, the disclaimer or the notes at the end. But, overall, in my humble opinion another outstanding chapter that reminds me once again why i wait patiently for updates. I don't care if it takes you six months to update if each chapter is of the same caliber as you have produced in the past.
~offers a tribute in the form of 12 cloned Snapes and 12 very unique ways to for the authors to kill them, mostly Jigsaw variety deaths...~

LOL you are too funny!
Just wanted to say I loved the hit wizard exam leading to a Mastery. As always, your stories are the icing on the cupcake (made with Splenda of course, we're a diabetic household too!)

I want to respond to part of PhishBulb's review.
While McGonagall's attitude is disgusting, unfortunately it is a very realistic portrayal since it is VERY common for both teachers and principals to turn a blind eye to a lot of bullying and harassment that goes on in schools. It's puzzling that they are then shocked when a tormented kid shows up with a weapon one day and exacts vengeance. It's utterly disgusting that everyone then seems to vilify the kid who lashed out while continuing to turn a blind eye to those that pushed the kid to the breaking point.
As long as the adults around these kids continue to abdicate their responsibilities as temporary guardians as well as teachers and administrators, the laws of nature will win out over the civility of society. (Just like any creature, if you kick it daily, eventually it will bite you.) If the adults stand back and allow a kid to be pushed to his/her limits then they shouldn't be even remotely surprised when that kid eventually either kills him/her-self or lashes out at those responsible and those that permitted it.
Having been a victim of severe bullying all throughout high school, I practically CHEER for these kids that kill the bastards responsible for their torment. That may sound cold and cruel but unless you've been pushed to the point where you've spent long hours staring down the barrel of a gun because everyone seems to hate and want to hurt you, you could never understand the hurt, anger and desire for revenge. My sympathies are limited only to those truly innocent who sometimes get caught up when these kids snap and lash out. As for the bullies and the adults that permit it, they are truly reaping what they sow. It's just too bad that the majority still remains ignorant and do nothing to stop the bullying and harassment that leads to these. Until they do so, there will always be those that lash out.
While they may be able to stop it from happening in the school itself with metal detectors and what-not, the kids won't always be in the safety of the school. They can just as easily be caught out in the street or at a local shop or mall. It is impossible to truly stop someone who believes they have nothing to live for.
Just like teaching their children about safe-sex and the dangers of drugs & alcohol, it should be every parent's responsibility to ensure their own child is not the type to harass and bully others. If they abdicate those critical parenting responsibilities, then they just might find themselves making funeral arrangements for that child.

Well, that chapter took me the better part of about two and a half hours to get through. AWESOME. And I was a good boy and finished all of my finals before I started this. So glad those are over. An 8AM Physics II final is absolutely miserable. I'm glad I have a month to recover from this semester.
Okay, back to the story now. That was a great chapter. No, that was defenetly one of the best chapters you have written. The cross-continenr apparating, the Hit Wizard course, Harry and Hermione sleeping together, Remus and Tonks getting together...finally. Hmm, what else...oh, the brooch that was made into a necklace, the entire wrap on why the Americans were helping, the idea of giving Harry a Mastery in and of itself, the idea of disguising the Language exam, the portkey background...
I LOVED THIS CHAPTER!
Lets see...okay, 12pt. TNR...64 pages!
Such a great way to spend time as a security monitor on a Friday night. Getting paid to read fanfiction. Awesome. Okay, I'll submit this when I get back to my room, that and my battery is almost dead.
Happy writing!
