Nice one!

Right, i can see Draco standing up for Harry as his best man at Harry's wedding *grin*

Btw: I don't know if you are aware of it, but there is a translation to german language of "Sunset over Britain" at ff.net going on

You are the best fanfic authors. Not because your stories are the best (though very close to the best), but that you actually update and finish your stories.
This chapter, however, read like it was a little short

Another great chapter, I do so look forward to getting told that they have arrived :) I am loking froward to seeing dumbledore turn up at haven, it will be funny to see him thrown out. He seems to have this idea that he knows what is best, without actually knowing what is going on. Hmm, lets see 6 days to get the barrier up, and Moldy has sent a team to Ireland and wants to join them himself. It will interesting to see what happens first (I know what will happen first, but it how that im looking forward to :). bring on the next chapter.

Yes, the Harrier can carry the Maverick missile (both the TV and IR-guided versions). (For the unaware, the Harrier is actually a British design license-built by what is now Lockheed Martin in the US; amazingly, the Americans sell more Harriers overseas than do the British!) You have not truly grasped what the Wonder Plane can do until you see one not only stop on a dime, in midair, but actually fly *backwards*. (Yes, I've seen the Harrier (one belonging to the USN) actually do that....*live*. So it wasn't a camera trick.) To a Harrier, a whole carrier is a lot of room for it to land on. The USN and USMC use amphibious assault ships like USS Wasp to bring Harriers in from the sea, because the Harrier can in fact take off or land *vertically*, just like any helicopter.

I agree. Exterminate them all. Foul things.

Lovely chapter. I would have liked more explanation of why Harry was so tired. Was he still in a lot of pain? Other than that -- it was great to see the Bells hiding out and getting rescued, and really funny seeing the Weasleys evacuate St. Mungo's. BOWEL Movement indeed! :)

Great Chapter!
I'm all for Harry becoming a Tasmanian Devil Animagus. It's loud, rude and lecherous! It also naturally has Black hair, an important point. Perfect for him really *grins brightly*

Sorry, no backed snackfoods as tribute, but I do have a jar of Vegemite if you want it?

Cheers

Another great chapter! the only scene that slightly disappointed was the one where both Narcissa and Emma comment obliquely on how 'gifted' Harry is; just once I'd like to read a fic where, upon seeing Harry revealed in all his glory, someone commiserates with Hermione (or whomever) with the observation, "Don't bee too disappointed, my dear, after all, with wizards it's not the size of the wand but the magic in it!" (I actually found a button with that on it....) Things are heating up nicely, I can't wait to see Tommy Boy run into the boundary Harry's planning on putting into place and go '"Boingooingooiingooiinngooiinnnggggg.... thud!"

another great chapter. I liked the scene where Sven blows the death eaters away with a shotgun. On that note, will Harry use any muggle military tech to help him retake britain? eagerly awaiting next chapter

A beautifully written chapter. I have truly enjoyed reading the story and I am very impressed by the way that you have incorporated the muggle worlds reactions in the story. I'm happy to see that the twins have found themselves a nice set of sweedish twins. I can picture Dobby embracing bad British War movies. Looking forward to your next chapter.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful story with us.

Still good, can't wait for the next chapter. Is Ron really pushing up the daisies or did he manage to hide out in Hogwarts somewhere?

Crys posted a comment on Tuesday 8th November 2005 12:41pm for The Darkest Hours

Twins. Helga and Inga. [Crys shakes his head and chuckles helplessly]

Dobby was a riot. The Weasley twins always are.

Harry has GOT to cast some secrecy spell over Haven. I can't believe everyone there is on his side. After all, nobody spotted Dean until it was too late.

Stroke of brilliance for the elves to strip Hogwarts before they left.

Nobody escaping through chunnel or over channel?

AD is still around and still under his massive delusion. *sigh* How big does the blunt instrument have to be before he "gets it"? Harry-sized, perhaps?

Very nice touch with the Bell family. Just a bit of a human face to the situation.

One nit: for the planes flying over the 7th fleet, it's C.A.P. Combat Air Patrol. I'll take your word about Hornets being carrier capable, being able to carry Mavericks, and that Mavericks are air-to-ground missles. Is the range on a Chinook (that's the REALLY big helicopter, isn't it?) enough to fly from Ramstein in Germany or any French NATO bases?

Looking forward to the next chapter!

The broadcast here sounds alot like the final broadcast by the British radio service right before Hong Kong fell to the Japanese during WWII on December 25th. Good job with this story.

Another great chapter, The best part has to be the F/A-18 taking out a tank with a Maverick Missile. The fact that I am a Marine Aviation Ordnanceman in a F/A-18 Squadron in Beaufort SC. Does not help. I cant wait for the next chapter and sequel.

{Raises Evil looking blade while eyes glow menecingly}

Who DARES to defile the sanctity of the story's written here! I Shall REND their bones from thier from thier Bodies! I shall have them drawn, whipped and quartered, and then boiled, and then I shall take the little pieces and I shall jump on them, and I will continure to jump on them untill I get blisters or can think of somthing even more unpleasent to do to them, and then I shall

{Stops and blinks}

Sorry, I appear to be caught in a rather nasty loop at the moment, {Reads the above} Looks like a cross between a horror and 'Hitchhikers Guide' oh well...

Excellent work! I do worry a little bit about this outbase that voldemort has in ireland, but I really can't see harry letting it stand once he finds out.

Dumbledor is on tenterhooks for certain at this point, and I'm waiting for the shoe to drop, preferably on his head after being transfigured into a rather large and heavy wieght.

Keep up the excellent work!

I loved this chapter... and though the title was about England's Darkest Hours... I thought it was actually filled with lots of hope. The plight of the Bells was particularly poignant. It truly gave us a tast of what England has had to go through in the past (without the magic, of course) and one that we here in America has been blessedly spared.

I eagerly look forward to Voldemort discovering he can't actually leave England once Harry completes the necessary rituals and spells. I find Dumbledore's attitude ironically hilarious... here he is actively working against Harry in many different ways... and yet he actually gets angry because Harry is not 'doing his job' and fighting old Voldie! Only a truly cracked mind could be so deluded... hurry and post more, thanks.

A thought occurs to me. Thanks to among other things the Weasley twin's exuberance, THe pureblood's look on society and the defection of teh Houseelves.

Harry has quite literally managed to Hamstring Voldermort in one of the most important and often overlooked factors of a country/war machine. IN essence Voldylocks has no support structure.

THink about it, His pureblood followers tend to eb rich, or focused on politics. Not on the nuts and bolts that help keep a goverment running.

Granted they could probably get some other use out of Muggle slaves, that still has its problems. There are still many jobs that require magic in production and such. Add to that he fact that Voldylocks won't have access to Gringotts...

I suspect he may find his Death Eater army stalled for a lot longer than he suspects it will.

A good example of how critical the small stuff can be I think would be the German offensive against Russia in WWII.. one of the key points of defeat was 'Genral Winter' and the reasont his was so devestating is that the German leadership focused on getting the tanks and troops as far as they could, ignoreing the simpel thing like makeing sure they had adequete winter gear and snow tires.....

I am really annoyed at the two of you! Here I am trying to get my story typed up for National Novel Writers Month, and you have to go and post this chapter! Naturally, I have no discipline, so I had to stop and read it.

Excellent work, and I hope you are able to start the sequel very soon.
